Racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats encompasses a great deal of planning on the part of the race teams, the Technical Committee, and the sponsors of the racing machinery that screams across ed the fastest race track in the world. Nothing can compare to the thrill of your life as you watch these fine-tuned race cars, and motorcycles, screaming across the Salt chasing the next land speed record for their racing classification. Now then, you may have been bitten by the need for speed yourself and are out there on the salt yourself, pursuing the best that you as a race car driver can do with your race vehicle. If you are involved in racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats then we'd be glad to do a feature article here on BonnevilleRacing.com for your car / motorcycle and your team and yourself. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, maybe just some pictures or the race car (or race motorcycle, whatever the case may be) and some text about your land speed record attempt.
Not everyone is interested in driving at speeds of 200MPH plus, but are avid fans of the salt flats streamliners or the modified's running some wild combinations of high performance engines coupled to exotic transmissions. The racing motorcycle crowd hasn't been left out of the Bonneville scene as there are a good number of motorcycle classifications for setting, and breaking, land speed records while riding on motorcycles or motorcycle powered streamliners. Racing motorcycles on the Bonneville Salt Flats is even more tricky than the 4-wheel vehicles due to traction problems with the salt course. A good place to read up on motorcycle powered streamliners is over at Keny Lyon's website for the "GoldWing Racing Project", which is a Honda powered motorcycle streamliner. Keny uses women pilots to run his motorcycles and the streamliner to set new world land speed records.
